Based on US Billboard and UK
Record Retailer/Music Week/NME/BPI positions. Compiler: AC
Palacio.
Chart listings found here are based on positions from the two
largest and most accurately maintained calculations of sale only,
though early UK charts lend much to the imagination. Chart sizes
between 1964 and 2004 are as follows:
United States:
1964 (all) through early 1967 - Top 150 (separate mono &
stereo charts.)
1967 (early) until mid-1967 - Top 175.
1967 (May 13th) to the present - Top 200.
UK (Great
Britain): Has
fluctuated greatly between a Top-15 and
a Top-100 (even a Top-77 existed for a short period.)
We have all US year-end chart positions available HERE.

** Rock and Roll Circus reached #12 in the UK Compilations chart.
Positions on this chart are based on the sales of a particular album only in the 12-month period of a single calendar year as compared to other albums' sales from that same period. You may notice that 12x5 (from 1964) is listed after Now! (from 1965) - this is due to sales figures from 1965. As with Let It Bleed in 1969, 12x5 had only negligible sales figures in its initial year of release.
Today, this chart contains a list of the top-200 albums' sales of any particular year. Prior to 1994's Voodoo Lounge, the chart consisted of a top-100. As of 2006, only Hot Rocks 1964-1971 (#5 in 1972) finished among the 10 best-selling albums of any particular year.

If any information regarding any single or album title is either missing or incorrect, please feel free to bring it to our attention, it would be most appreciated.
Between 1964 and '67, several albums though similar in many ways, were counted as individual charters. In most cases beyond 1964, the variations dealt with the extraction of 1 or more tracks for the U.S. market. In fewer cases, omitted tracks were replaced by others. Case in point: Aftermath [UK version] had 14 tracks while the Aftermath [US version] omitted 4 tracks (including Mothers Little Helper) and added 1 [Paint it Black.] In this particular case, it is considered one album. When there are more than 5 variations of a sort other than arrangement, they are counted as individual albums.
There are more than 5 variations of the Out of Our Heads albums, yet their uniqueness was answered by the inclusion of the Decembers Children (and everybody's) US LP as a separate listing.
